Today I started updating the procedures maual for my job. I found out that according to the binder, I'm supposed to be maintaining databases that have been obsolete for at least 5 years (and are DOS based to boot) for a company that technically doesn't exist any more. Shortly after mentioning this to my supervisor I recieved a copy of the updated job description pretty quickly so I can start to rebuild this thing from scratch. Woo!

I'm not sure if this is good news or bad news.
Good catch :), silly it being obsolete, yay for getting your own little project to be proud of, boo for getting more work :(

It was neither good nor bad, it just was. As the management is slowly starting to retire we're discovering loads of things are are completely out of date because "that's the way we've always done it."

With each new section of the binder I go through the more work it seems I have to do. Everything that is correct is missing steps because the author assumed the person reading has already had some experience doing it which is super frustrating.
